James Smith is Technical Manager for UK, Ireland and South Africa at Arista Networks, responsible for Systems Engineering and helping customers design and automate high performance, scalable network infrastructure from the Campus to the Data Centre and beyond to the Cloud.
James has many years of experience of designing and engineering complex network environments He has worked with networking vendors, service providers and systems integrators and has a very keen interest in working with new technologies.
Data Centre networking has evolved significantly in the last decade, both architecturally and operationally, in to what is now commonly referred to as Cloud Networking. Organisations are building end-to-end networks that can stretch from their own Private Cloud infrastructure to the Public Clouds, often via a “co-lo” that may also provide services. Of course these end-to-end tenant networks operate over physical data centre networks and these range from small enterprise DC topologies to the largest hyper-scale networks on the planet. This session will focus on the DC architectures organisations are building today, the rationale behind them, the rise of full spectrum automation for provision and maintenance and the technology transitions we anticipate in the next 3-5 years.
